Surface treatment and characterization, along with related fields, are of vital importance to many industrial sectors, such as watchmaking, the medical field, and the food industry. To meet the needs of the business world, HE-Arc and EPFL have each established a center of expertise dedicated to industrial projects: the Surface Engineering Group at HE-Arc, specializing in surface treatment and coatings, and the FAST platform at EPFL, active in tribology and surface characterization.
